Since 1995, the National Computer Board (NCB) has been organising Infotech annually in Mauritius with the aims of creating awareness on emerging technologies, bridging the digital divide and providing a platform for local ICT operators to develop business opportunities with potential technology partners and customers.
The NCB has so far organised 25 editions of Infotech. Infotech has gathered momentum over the years to become the largest annual ICT event of Mauritius and the Indian Ocean, drawing a visitor turnout of around 130,000 which is 10% of the whole Mauritius population.
The concept of InnovTech was first introduced as a component of Infotech since 2017. It highlighted innovative projects of the industry as well as institutions and academia. Furthermore, several conferences were organised based on theme related to Innovation. Last year, the InnovTech component was moved to a bigger scale with over 30 participants and more thematic conferences on emerging technologies, data science and cyber security. It also hosted VR demos, Coding and a 3D printing area consisting of all 3D printing companied of Mauritius.
